I’ve started to see what I’ve been touching lately, and not surprisingly, it’s… simply “eccentric”, in the sum of elements but not in the use of each one.
Text Editor: Sublime Text, Atom I can’t get used to it (largely due to its complicated integration with Go and Gb), and the same applies to atom for PHPStorm. In the terminal, my header editor is Joe and this has an explanation: my first text editor was WordStar and I’m a nostalgic.
Programming Languages: Go, PHP, ShellScript, Java (for Android) and Javascript (Node and Appcelerator). This season, the use of other languages like Python, C, Rebol, Ruby,… has been “marginal”.
“Frameworks/utilities/…”:
- PHP: Laravel, SlimPHP, Symfony, Drupal8 (I hope it comes out already!), PHPUnit, Codeception, WordPress,…
- Go: GB (as builder) and little more.
- JS: Angular, React and especially RiotJs, and Appcelerator.
Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis (yes, as a database), ElasticSearch (also as a database… if I have a vice), LevelDB, SQLite,… for each need a DB.
Search Engines: Solr, ElasticSearch, Bleeve
Semantic: Virtuoso (forgotten), Apache Marmotta, Apache Jena, Apache Stanbol, XSIR,… Is so much “Apache” necessary in the name?
Web Servers: Here with Go I’ve made a small jump by forgetting my beloved nginx for many projects although I still use it together with Apache.
Code Control: Git, although I use the command line for everything, with git is the only one I make an exception, since I tend to use SourceTree as a Git GUI,… nobody is perfect, but who wants to be nobody. As a Private server Gogs fantastic!.
Many things I don’t know where to categorize them, I’ve gone from Memcache to Redis, from Gearman to Beanstalkd, and then to a Go-Redis hybrid,… and now I’ll have to deal with RabbitMQ.
As a new element, the Raspberry Pi 2, where I do “load tests” of different “micro-services”, if with few resources and some shaking it doesn’t give problems, it seems that the “thing will go well”, that said, I don’t know how it hasn’t died on me yet with the cane I give it. I haven’t been able to verify it but something tells me that when I connect via SSH all the lights turn on and start blinking “. . . - - - . . .”, but who knows morse to help her.
And, as it couldn’t be otherwise, I’ve been enjoying systems, which is something I’ve always considered important for every developer, more than basic knowledge of systems, so much docker, less vagrant, hyper_, etcd, consul, monit, shellscripts (with all their gear: Grep, AWK, many | and some other >), tmux (yes, to launch processes…) and especially in development, some kill and its cousin Mr. killall).
